Apple WatchにSamsung製28nmプロセッサ搭載
Apple Watch には、数多くのサブシステムを26 mm x 28 mm という極小モジュールに組み込んだS1チップ（APL0778 ）が内蔵されているが、このプロッセッサーは最新のものではなく、28nmプロセスであることがわかった。
”Among the more interesting discoveries Chipworks has made is the manufacturing process for the APL0778 application processor (CPU/GPU) on the S1 chip. It was made with Samsung’s 28 nanometer LP process, which, as Ars Technica points out, is no longer cutting edge technology. 【.macrumors】
S1チップに搭載されたプロセッサーについては興味深いところだが、 Apple Watch は iPhone 5sに搭載されていたものと同性能のものだった。 Apple Watch の動作には十分な性能だが、来年以降発売される Apple Watch ではアップグレードされるのだろう。 iPhone 6, 6 Plusには、 20nmプロセスのA8プロセッサが搭載されている。
