Apple Watch、品薄の要因は Taptic Engine

発売以来品薄状態が続いている Apple Watch 、 Apple Online Store で出荷予定日も6月から短くなることがないのは、Taptic Engine の部品供給不足が原因のようだ。

Apple Watch には Taptic Engine と呼ばれるリニアアクチュエータが内蔵されており、アラートや通知を受け取ったり、ディスプレイを押すといった操作をするたびに、手首を軽く叩いてくれる特別に設計されたテクノロジーだ。

この Taptic Engine の部品は、AAC Technologies Holdings Inc.が製造しているが、いくつかの品質に問題が発生しており、予定通りの供給数が確保できていないようだ。2番目の製造元である日本メーカーの製品では同様の問題が発生しておらず、日本製品のみの採用となっているため品薄状態が続いている。 Apple Watch の供給不足は、まだしばらく続きそうだ。
