米国からAppleミニストアが姿を消す

米国サンノセにあった Apple Store ,　Oakridge が閉店した。新しいコンセプトストアモデルとして小規模で展開してきた最後の店舗だった。

小規模な Apple Storeが最初にオープンしたのは2004年のこと。空港や駅にあるキオスク的な存在として考え出された店舗形態だった。店舗の間口は、なんとホンダのシビックの長さと同じだったのだ。Steve Jobs は、このミニ店舗のコンセプトを「小型でラグジェアリ感のあるMini Cooperのようなものだ」としていたそうだ。
しかし、 iPhone やiPad が発売されてから、ユーザーが右肩上がりに増えたことで、今では Apple Storeへ訪れるユーザも行列ができるほど多くなり、サポート面において小規模スペースの店舗では対応できなくなったのだ。国内の Apple Storeでも、仙台一番町店などはこのサイズに近いと言える。渋谷店も同サイズだが、2階があるので面積は実質2倍だ。しかし、この2店舗も整理されたら大変だ。Genius Barがない、サポート対応はないが、製品の購入相談ができるキオスク的なミニショップが国内にもっとあっても良いのではないだろうか。それがプレミアムリセーラーだったりするのかな…。
